Some people just don't get it. The action films being made these days are not that good. Some of them are just too "techie". The best action movies of all time are full of that essential Human "kick ass" & "blow em up" element. There is no substitute for it. We were surprised to see so many of the "techie" stuff in this list. So we added our favorites in a second list. Here are the Top 10 Action Films according to IMDB. 

Top 10 Action Movies Of All Time

REVIEW#1: Certainly the one exception to our "techie" critique. This Lucas master piece defined Science Fiction for an entire generation and set the standard for the genre. You have to have it. 5 Stars!
REVIEW#2: The Joker (RIP Heath Ledger) made this film what it is. While we don't quite agree with the lofty No.2 position, we definitely give props where it's due. 4 Stars for the Batman!
REVIEW#3: We first saw this one in black & white. Loved every minute of it. This movie is intense and full of authentic fight scenes. This earned 5 Stars! 
REVIEW#4: No surprise here except that we would have given the trilogy 4,5 & 6 in the rankings. Tolken fans approved of this. 5 Stars!
REVIEW#5: This came very close to the original but not quite. We still loved it though, so much that we bought it for the collection. 4.5 Stars!
REVIEW#6: Excellent film. We just loved the German machine going up against Harrison Ford in his prime. By far the best of the Indiana Jones series. 5 Stars!
REVIEW#7: The first in the trilogy that left us wanting more Hobbits and Wizards. We thought it really rocked! so 5 Stars!
REVIEW#8: Neo came and forced us all to think about the world we live in. It broke a lot of new ground in special effects and gave the Wachowski bros their star. Matrix gets 5 Stars!
REVIEW#9: We think this is the best Cary Grant movie ever. This movie is timeless. We generally hate remakes but maybe its time somebody looked into the possibility. 5 Stars for Mr. Grant!
REVIEW#10: As we mentioned before this should be ranked higher. The way these films brought the novel to life was nothing short of brilliant. We have a script for Mr. Jackson (if anyone knows him). 5 Stars of course! 

Our Top 10 Favs!

REVIEW#1: How can you not love Mel Gibson painted,angry and ready for war? The final battle was perhaps the most anticipated in movie history. 5 Stars !
REVIEW#2: Arnold made this movie. Probably his best work 
(outside of Total Recall). T2 made an impact on SciFi action films that followed. 5 Stars!
REVIEW#3: What made this movie? We are torn between Sigourney Weaver and the Alien. So much action, great special effects.We watch this one once or twice each year. 5 Stars! 
REVIEW#4: This brought Vietnam to life for all of us. Gritty, realistic, riveting....ok you get the point. You gotta have this in your stash! 5 Stars! 
REVIEW#5: One of the great Epics of all time. We are not so sure its a pure action film due to the high "drama" content but those fight scenes push it into the action arena. Another 5 Star rating!
REVIEW#6: Two of the greats in the same film. Many people still don't know that at the time this Thriller was hot, Al and Robert were feuding so they never actually shot any scenes together. True story. Great movie. 5 Stars!
REVIEW#7: One of the great war movies of the last century. For many it was the first look at Jungle Warfare on the big screen. There are rumors of a possible remake but we say LEAVE IT ALONE! 5 Stars!
REVIEW#8: Another great war movie. The WWII story was finely crafted and expertly brought to life aka AWESOME. You need to own this. It gets 5 Stars!
REVIEW#9: This is Steve Mcqueen in his element. We think this movie is not given the recognition due. It wasn't perfect but it was quite a good story. We give it 4.5 Stars unwillingly!
REVIEW#10: One of the Charlton Heston Epics. Maybe his next best film after The Ten Commandments. This movie is a favorite of ours for too many reasons to list here. Just get it and see. 5 Stars for Ben Hur!
